For our 10th Anniversary celebration, Water Docs has united with film festivals from across Canada to co-present a high-impact festival aimed at recovering the pre-COVID momentum of public sentiment, favouring strong action to avert climate catastrophes.
NOVEMBER 9 - 14, 2021
Please join us on a journey of discovery during this six-day online special event filled with documentaries and short films that examine water and climate themes; meaningful discussions with filmmakers, newsmakers, and activists; and direct connections to action in your community.
As many of you know, this year marks the 10th anniversary of our film festival. From its inception in 2012 and over the past decade, we have had the absolute pleasure of bringing you some of the greatest environmental films and documentaries about all things water, and now it's time to celebrate!

Ecologos is a 23-year registered environmental charity protecting water and a liveable climate. Our signature program, the Water Docs Film Festival, has been such a success over its 10 year history that we are now better known simply as Water Docs. This program has also created the impetus to spin off four other related programs: the Water Docs Where You Live Community Screenings program; the Water Docs at School Action Projects program; Common Earth, a base-camp training program for change agents; and ReSurge: Canadian Film Festivals for a Liveable Climate.

Water Docs Recommends
The first video on demand platform dedicated to the future of our planet.
Our current favourite: a beautiful short (12 min) called The Whale Who Saved Me. It has a really great message about how we are all connected with nature but we have lost that connection.

Water Stories
Stay connected to a common goal of caring for our planet, our water, and for each other. We've created a space for our readers to share their experiences and connections with water and in turn, with each other.
We invite you to enjoy some stories that have been shared through our website and if you feel moved, please share your story with us. And don't forget to send a picture along to illustrate it, too.

OUR MISSION
To evoke a spirit of reverence for water.
To inform about threats that imperil water.
To inspire citizen action to protect water
and its many effects on climate change.
““Climate change is sometimes misunderstood as being about changes in the weather. In reality, it is about changes in our very way of life.”

Every time I enter the ocean, it shows me something beautiful and unexpected. I’m looking for sharks, and a fin whale surfaces, breath bursting into fine mist. Sea lion pups encourage me to play, spinning in the water, swimming fast then turning on a dime and blowing bubbles. Floating at the surface, a comb jelly mesmerises me with rainbow bands of bioluminescence.
