A Year In Review
Along with the rest of the world, we had to pivot how we delivered our Water Docs Film Festival, Water Docs Where-You-Live Community Screenings and our Water Docs @ School Action Projects programs, and in the process, we learned a lot.
We successfully moved our 2020 film festival online including live and audience interactive discussions with filmmakers and special guests; we continued to offer Community Screening opportunities and they are now completely online; and, in partnership with LSF (Learning for a Sustainable Future), the Water Docs @ School program was converted to a virtual format and is now completely administered online.
93% of respondents in our Guest Feedback survey gave our 2020 Water Docs Film Festival four stars or better.
In addition to pivoting our core programs, we offered community activities to help you remain busy and entertained during the many weeks of remaining safe and at home. Our "@Home" activities included two water-themed Photo Contests, our Wish For Water campaign, a Colouring Challenge, Bingo game, Crossword puzzle and of course, we also referred you to lots of fantastic water-themed films and documentaries that are available on Netflix, CBC Gem and Amazon Prime.
Join us on our water journey and become part of the solution
It has often been said that, "knowledge is power" and we know that the very same knowledge also encourages #ActionForWater.
We could still use your help and are always open to receiving your financial gifts in support our important mission of informing, educating and activating our audiences to respond to the earth's water and climate crises through personal and collaborative initiatives. We bring together the arts through documentary film screenings, filmmaker discussions, special guests and our audience - after all, Water is Life!

A Heartfelt Farewell
It is with mixed emotions that we bid a heartfelt and grateful farewell to Ian Gilmour, a long time board member and great supporter of Ecologos and our Water Docs programs. Ian has volunteered his time and immeasurable skills for the better part of 20 years helping to form the organization to what it is today and to shepherd many of our fledgling programs from concept through to successful execution. He has helped steer us through good times and hard times and has made the journey memorable and productive, leaving all of us the better and stronger for having learned from him through his many talents and wisdom.
Ian will also be retiring from his career as an Associate Partner with KPMG to pursue projects in digital transformation work for non-profit organizations and non-governmental agencies in the Health and Human Services sector. We will all miss Ian's guidance and leadership as a past chair and director on our Board, but we know we are a much stronger and more resilient organization and in a better position to manage our future and to weather the current COVID-19 storm by having benefitted from his invaluable presence on our crew.
With gratitude (and more than a smattering of wistful sighs), we wish Ian much joy, good health and wellbeing as he enters the next phase of his life's journey.

Ecologos Mission
“No water, no life. No blue, no green”
Every time I enter the ocean, it shows me something beautiful and unexpected. I’m looking for sharks, and a fin whale surfaces, breath bursting into fine mist. Sea lion pups encourage me to play, spinning in the water, swimming fast then turning on a dime and blowing bubbles. Floating at the surface, a comb jelly mesmerises me with rainbow bands of bioluminescence.
