The mission of our photo contests are to celebrate water in all its forms and showcase the outstanding work of both amateur and professional photographers from Canada and from around the world. We hope our photo contests inspire our audiences, activists, and artists to continue celebrating water and also to take #ActionForWater. The theme of our second photo contest is rivers… in celebration of World Rivers Day.

Celebrate with Water Docs the many magnificent rivers that are the lifeblood of our earth.
On September 27, the Water Docs Film Festival invites you to celebrate World Rivers Day by participating in our second photography contest: WATCHING THE RIVER RUN.
Share your passion for water and rivers by submitting your own favourite photograph of a river. It can have you in it, or someone else, or simply the river itself in all its magnificence.
Whether you are an amateur or a professional photographer, we want to hear from you and see and share your work!
How to enter:
Entry is really easy and free of charge.
If there’s a story behind your photo that you’d like to share, feel free to add a caption.Submission deadline: Launching on September 27, the submission deadline is October 23.
Public viewing and voting will take place from October 24 through October 30.
Winning photos will be selected and announced on October 31.
Rules:
You can submit one photo for consideration.
By entering, you agree that you are the author of the work submitted. You own all copyrights to the image submitted and take all responsibility for the content of the image, including misuse by third parties.
We accept JPG/JPEG digital files up to 2 MB file size.
You retain all rights to the photo submitted to the contest. Our goal is to promote the beauty of water and your photography submission in good faith.
Water Docs guarantees that photographers will be fully credited when posting their photos on our social media platforms. We cannot guarantee that others who copy or re-post your photos will do the same.
Photo selection:
From October 24 to 30 Water Docs fans and followers can vote on their favourite photo submission by simply liking one or more photos.
We will announce the photo with the most “likes” on October 31… just in time for our 9th Annual Film Festival taking place online November 4-8.
Be sure to tell your family, friends, and fans about your photo. Ask them to follow us and weigh in with a like!
