2. Marketing & Communications Assistant
Funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
Eligibility for these positions is based on Canada Summer Jobs Criteria
· 30 years of age or under at the start of employment
· a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
(applicants with temporary student or work visas are not eligible for this program)
· must have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Ontario
Organization
Ecologos Environmental Organization (EEO) is a registered Canadian environmental and arts charity celebrating 24 years of continuous growth in program development and impact. Ecologos is a champion of water and climate protection. Its network of volunteers, along with staff support, mount three core programs every year – the annual Water Docs Film Festival, Water Docs Where You Live Community Screenings and Water Docs at School Action Projects (aimed at grade 7 & 8 students in Ontario). In addition, Ecologos/Water Docs is launching the #LaterNoMore project which will expand existing programs. Position(s) Profile
Protecting our water resources and taking care of our climate has never been more important than it is today. Ecologos is looking for highly organized and motivated support staff to join a team committed to delivering quality programming and specialized projects to the general public. We are looking for energetic, detail-oriented, and digitally savvy individuals who have strong communication skills and thrive in an independent working environment. These positions are supported by the federal government’s Canada Summer Jobs program and are part-time; 30 hours/week; hours to be agreed upon and to be fulfilled over the spring and summer of 2023.
1. Fundraising & Research Assistant
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Fundraising Program Manager, your primary responsibilities will be:
· researching donor prospects
· writing grant proposals and funding applications
· creating an annual calendar for grant application deadlines
· generating ideas for donor acquisition, retention and upgrades
· assisting with ongoing maintenance of CRM database and other donation related records
· assisting with other administrative and fundraising tasks as needed
· providing research profiles for prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations
· assisting in the preparation of proposal and report submissions for Foundation funding
· researching and administering activities to support online and community events
· assisting in the research of new technologies and other tools for program support
· assisting with research and outreach to support the building of potential partnerships
Position Requirements
· a college or university degree
· previous experience in corporate sponsorship, philanthropy, and foundation proposal writing
· proven initiative, and demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills
· a passion for learning about environmental issues concerning water and climate
· an ability to complete tasks in an efficient manner and meet deadlines
· results-oriented, with demonstrated ability to work with data management software and track progress toward objectives; experience with CMS software considered a strong asset
· outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
· a motivated and confident team player, able to prioritize and effectively manage expectations
· must be able to work from home on your own computer with high-speed internet, communicating often via email, telephone, and Zoom
· interest in learning about and/or having previous experience in environmental issues
· must also be available to attend monthly (Thursdays) and bi-weekly (Wednesdays) team meetings held via Zoom
2. Marketing & Communications Assistant
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Digital Content & Communications Manager your primary responsibilities will be:
· assisting with marketing initiatives and campaigns including, social media, crowdfunding campaigns, website content development, and event promotions
· co-ordinating initiatives with local, provincial, and national environmental and related organizations, with a special focus on youth participation
· assisting with moderating and content creation for external networks
· soliciting volunteers as needed for programs, events and co-ordinating teams, with a special focus on diversity and equity candidates
· researching and administering activities to support online and community events
· assisting in the research of new technologies and other tools for program support
· assisting with research and outreach to support the building of potential partnerships
Position Requirements
· a college or university degree
· proven initiative, and demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills
· a passion for learning about environmental issues concerning water and climate
· an ability to complete tasks in an efficient manner and meet deadlines
· results-oriented, with demonstrated ability to work with digital media apps
· outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; graphic design skills considered a strong asset
· a motivated and confident team player, able to prioritize and effectively manage expectations
· must be able to work from home on your own computer with high-speed internet, communicating often via email, telephone and Zoom
· interest in learning, or experience in environmental issues
· must also be available to attend monthly (Thursdays) and bi-weekly (Wednesdays) team meetings held via Zoom
