Water Docs Film Festival & Programming
Water Docs is evolving its programming. After 10 years of producing the Water Docs Film Festival, our team is now developing an exciting new project called the #LaterNoMore: Activating Climate Solutions Now! campaign with the Water Docs Film Festival as its anchor.
Water is the primary medium through which we will feel the effects of climate change. Unpredictable water availability, flooding, exacerbating water scarcity and contaminated water are all threatening factors causing concern about the kind of world the next generation will inherit as well as our ability to mitigate the increasing impacts. Climate change is a complex global issue that will continue to have a growing impact on communities, businesses, and the economy into the future.
“The climate crisis has already been solved. We already have the facts and solutions.” Greta Thunberg
It will require significant effort to transition successfully to a low-carbon society. We all have a role to play – individuals, families, governments, financial institutions, businesses, industries, schools, and faith communities – in accelerating and scaling up climate change solutions.
#LaterNoMore: Activating Climate Solutions Now! will teach our youth and the general public about positive climate change solutions through unique platforms… inspiring people to take the necessary actions now for the sake of our planet and our future generations.
#LATERNOMORE
We could really use your support to deliver this project through our four unique platforms:
#LaterNoMore: Water Docs Film Festival
#LaterNoMore: Lesson Plans for Students
#LaterNoMore: Community Town Hall Meetings
#LaterNoMore: Interactive Website
Simultaneously, we continue to deliver great programming through our Water Docs at School and Water Docs Where You Live programs. Dive a little deeper and read about who we are, what we do, and how we do it.

Water & Climate Stories
“How a Documentary Changed My Life” by Julia Barnes
2023 Water Docs Communications & Marketing Assistant
“Are we in the right theatre?” I asked, as we walked up the aisle, surveying rows of empty seats. My mom and I were the only people in a room meant to accommodate 200.
We chose seats in the middle of the back row beneath the projection booth. Minutes ticked by as we joked about getting a private screening, until three more people trickled in.
The floors vibrated with the rumbling sound effects from an action movie playing in the next theatre over. It was a Friday night and most people chose to escape reality rather than face it.

WATER DOCS’ MISSION
To evoke a spirit of reverence for water and a liveable climate.
To inform about threats that imperil water and a liveable climate.
To inspire citizen action to protect water and a liveable climate.
Every time I enter the ocean, it shows me something beautiful and unexpected. I’m looking for sharks, and a fin whale surfaces, breath bursting into fine mist. Sea lion pups encourage me to play, spinning in the water, swimming fast then turning on a dime and blowing bubbles. Floating at the surface, a comb jelly mesmerises me with rainbow bands of bioluminescence.
